What to expect during the event?

Group Paint staff will welcome you and get you signed in. Please give them your pre-registration ticket. The canvases will be set up and you can choose where you would like to sit. First come first seated.  Introduce yourself to your neighbors and don your Group Paint Apron. Come early so you can order food or drinks and socialize. Your artist/teacher will warm up the crowd and present the party's painting and begin step-by-step instruction on how to create your own “masterpiece”. Sit back, relax, grab your paint brush and enjoy the party for the next few hours. Raise your hand if you need assistance or extra supplies and our staff will assist you.  At the end of the event, we will take a group picture and everyone takes home their own original work of art. You may stay as long as you want at Katie Jake's enjoying the food, drinks, live band and music later.

What if I don’t preregister?

If you do not get a chance to preregister, you can pay by cash or card the day of the event at the walk-in price.  This is only if space permits, so we do recommend preregistering.

Is food available?

Katie Jake's offers a delicious selection of appetizers and meals for your dining and painting pleasure. A menu will be on our tables. You may order food or drinks at any time.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing. We provide aprons to all guests, but accidents may happen, so wear clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little paint on. These paints become water-resistant when they dry, so roll up your sleeves! Spills can be cleaned immediately by water, or later before washing/drying with polish/paint remover.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

If you cannot attend an event for which you have prepaid,we do not offer cash refunds. If you let us know at least eight hours before the party begins, we will credit you for a future paint party, which can be redeemed for up to 6 months. Unfortunately, no refunds will be given for guests who do not show up for the event without prior notification.

How do I register for a class?
You may register at our grouppaint.Eventbrite.com page by clicking on our register/signup button, or here.  You will receive an email confirmation once you have completed the registration process that you may print out and bring to the party.

What is included in the price?
Everything! We provide all you will need for the class: canvas, paint, brushes, easels and aprons. We even clean up after you are done!

Can I bring a snack or beverage?
When we utilize a restaurant for our venue, we want to be respectful of their hospitality so ask that you utilize their services to satisfy your munchies and thirst.  Of course, if you are celebrating a special day, you may bring in your own cake to share!  Other venues may or may not be BYOB but we will let you know.  Remember, alcoholic beverages may help you paint better, or at least help you think that you do! Paint and drink responsibly!

What time do I need to arrive for a class?
Katie Jake's opens early in the morning, but please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can get you signed in and comfortable. We try to start the class ON TIME. Late arrivals are responsible to catch themselves up. There is plenty of parking in the lot as well as on the street. .

How long is a class?
Depending on the painting, most classes run 2 to 3 hours.

May I bring a non-painting guest to class to watch me while I paint?
Yes, but they may not sit at a painting table, only at a bar table or bench. They may not be able to see you actually painting depending on seating arrangements.

Do you have a minimum number of people required to hold a class?
We will teach a class as long as eight people are signed up. In the event that not enough people have signed up for a class, we will contact those signed up the day before the class to let them know about the cancellation. One way to be sure your class won't be canceled is to get a few friends to sign up with you!

Is Group Paint an art instruction studio?
While you will learn how to create a painting you'll be proud of, the focus is on fun and having a unique experrience. During the party we're playing fun music, making jokes and encouraging socializing with your date, friends or neighbors. The emphasis is on having fun.

I am all left thumbs when it comes to being creative, and don't want to make a fool of myself, is there hope for me?

Yes, there's always hope! The only fool is the one who does not try!  Here's some beginner's hints to help you enjoy your painting time:

  1. Paint with a big brush in the beginning to get the canvas covered so you feel accomplished and have plenty of time to add "details" orjust stop there and enjoy the splash of color on canvas. Let the back and forth stroke of the brush lull you into a relaxed state where your creative juices can flow freely.
  2. If you are not happy with your painting, "order more drinks". After a glass of wine or two, your expectation of getting the "perfect painting" will slowly adjust to what you have on your canvas. Focus on the journey, not the final destination.
  3.  If you are really not happy with your painting, remember you can always paint over it!  Just as there are no perfect people, there are no perfect paintings. It is physically impossible to create the same painting as your neighbor, so stop comparing and start creating. Art is in the hand of the artist. There is no judging here.

  4. Remember, you are here to socialize, laugh and enjoy yourself. Your goal is not the final painting but to have a FUN unique experience. If something beautiful comes out of it, it's just that much better.
